Program Details
All new MY26 Cab Chassis are eligible for $2,000 per unit if retailed under the Medium Fleet Program. To qualify for this program, you must have an approved Mercedes-Benz USA Medium Fleet Program Corporate Account Number (CAN). Eligible customers, at minimum, must have 15 – 249 vehicles registered in their fleet, which requires proof of 15 valid and unexpired registrations, titles, or an insurance policy. Section 179 of the U.S. tax code allows a business to deduct the cost of qualifying equipment and vehicles in the year they are placed in service, instead of recovering that cost gradually through depreciation. For a business adding vans to the fleet, that can pull a meaningful deduction into the current tax year. The figures below reflect federal limits for tax years beginning in 2026.

Instead of spreading a work vehicle’s cost across five or more years of depreciation, an eligible business can elect the deduction up front.
- Moves the deduction into the current tax year
- Applies to new and used qualifying vehicles, provided it is first use by your business
- Often pairs with 100% bonus depreciation on remaining basis
- Elected on IRS Form 4562 with a timely filed return
- More than 50% business use in the year placed in service. Falling below that later can trigger recapture.
- Placed in service, not merely ordered or paid for, by the end of your tax year.
- Deduction cannot exceed business income. Excess generally carries forward.
- Keep records. Mileage and use logs substantiate the business-use percentage.
Certain sport utility vehicles rated 6,000 to 14,000 lbs GVWR are subject to a separate first-year Section 179 cap of $32,000 for 2026, with remaining basis depreciated.
Specialized, non-passenger work vehicles are generally not subject to that cap. Cargo vans with no seating behind the driver and an enclosed cargo area are commonly treated this way.
Cargo Van, Crew Van, Passenger Van and Cab Chassis are each configured differently. Have your tax professional review the specific build before assuming which treatment applies.
